40 Years of Aviation English
               
Anglo-Continental Aviation English Division is celebrating 40 years of teaching specialised Aviation English language training to aviation organisations worldwide! Anglo-Continental offers a range of courses which have been specifically designed to assist aviation organisations and individuals to achieve the mandatory ICAO Level 4 (Operational).
Aviation Courses available include:
- Introduction to Aviation English
- English for Pilots and Air Traffic Controllers (ICAO Course 291)
- Teaching Methodology Course for Teachers of Aviation English
- Professional Training Course for Raters/Assessors
- Specialised Aviation English Language Training Courses
- English plus Private Pilot Training
Anglo-Continental also offers a Test of English for Aviation Personnel (TEAP) which is widely used to assess the language competence of pilots and air traffic controllers in accordance with the ICAO Language Proficiency Rating Scale. Aviation personnel and/or their sponsors are then able to determine a training programme with more confidence.

Revised Courses for 2012
          
Anglo-Continental has made a few changes to the following courses in 2012:
Course X-3.30 is now an Intensive FCE Preparation Course for the First Certificate in English, consisting of 30 lessons of intensive examination preparation, including: developing the language skills required for all sections of the exam; strategies for handling new vocabulary and unfamiliar topics; focus on key skills for exam success; regular timed sessions using practice tests and feedback on performance, highlighting areas for improvement.

The Club 50+ Programme is now the Club 45+ Programme. This programme is now available for students aged 45 years and over and offers a combined course of English language lessons and cultural excursions and activities. Typical excursions include visits to London, Winchester and Salisbury. Also popular is the 15th-century Athelhampton House and Gardens with Stonehenge nearby and the 18th-century Stourhead House and Gardens, with its wonderful lake, parkland and gardens.. Typical cultural acivities include a traditional English pub night in the New Forest National Park; a bowls afternoon; a sightseeing tour of the area and a quiz session.

Under the Sea : On Thursday 15 September 2011, Anglo-Continental held a water-themed event, Under the Sea! Marine-inspired games and delicious refreshments were enjoyed by all!
Hallowe'en: Anglo-Continental held its Hallowe'en Party on Thursday 27 October 2011. Students and staff took part in spooky games such as bobbing for apples, wrap the mummy and the "head and spoon" race! An exciting pumpkin-carving competition was also held, which resulted in some very impressive creations!

Christmas Events in Bournemouth
                 
Bournemouth Christmas Market: Bournemouth's Christmas Market will return to the Square from 17 November 2011 to 3 January 2012. The German-inspired market will feature a new Alpine bar and numerous stalls selling festive gifts and food and the Square will be adorned with Christmas decorations. Jack and the Beanstalk Pantomime: Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre will play host to this season's pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk, from 3 December 2011 to 2 January 2012. The pantomime will star Debra Stephenson, Chris Jarvis and Brian Capron and follows the adventures of Jack, Dame Dolly Deluxe, King Norman and Daisy the Cow. Farewell to Martin Kennedy, Teacher
        
On Friday 2 September 2011, Anglo-Continental held a farewell presentation for Martin Kennedy, who has now left the school to teach in secondary education. Martin has been a teacher at Anglo-Continental for 11 years and has taught both adult and young learner students. Martin's contributions were greatly valued by everyone at Anglo-Continental and we wish him the best of luck in his new venture!
