Owl news New Intensive IELTS Preparation Course in 2009

In addition to our existing Intensive Course plus Examination Practice for IELTS (X-2.30), We are pleased to announce the introduction of our new full-time IELTS course (X-1.30) from January 2009. Reflecting the growing worldwide interest in IELTS, we will be offering an Intensive IELTS Preparation Programme of 30 lessons per week for four or eight weeks.

IELTS assesses the language ability of candidates who need to study or work where English is the language of communication. The test includes listening, speaking, reading and writing components, and our intensive programme allows students to maximise their development in each of the four language skills.

Both courses are offered from Intermediate level and have scheduled monthly start dates throughout the year.

Owl news Changes to Aviation Courses for 2009

2008 has been a very successful year for the Aviation Division and with the momentum built up we anticipate that 2009 will be even more so.

The three TAE courses and three RAT courses have been very well attended and received and, with the continuing need worldwide for well trained teachers of aviation English and raters for the ICAO Language Proficiency Scale, 2009 looks like being equally busy.

Our team of raters has been expanded and the Anglo-Continental Test of English for Aviation Professionals (TEAP) continues to be refined. In 2009 we expect even more demand for it, particularly via the web.

On the ICAO 291 courses, the Guided Private Study materials have been expanded considerably and a wealth of materials is now available for pilots, air traffic controllers, cabin crew, engineers and ground personnel. All trainees on ICAO 291 courses are given daily tasks for Guided Private Study, which they find most helpful. Classroom materials, gathered from many sources (e.g. Flight Safety Foundation) or produced by ourselves, are plentiful and available to our team of aviation teachers and professionals on laptop, which makes them very accessible and easy to use in the classroom. From 2009 all trainees will have an aviation book included in the course fees. Our panel of aviation experts has been expanded by the welcome addition of two former airline captains to add to the existing (former) air traffic controllers and other aviation experts.

Owl news New Marketing Staff - Patrick Nettleship

Lyn

Hi! I’m Patrick Nettleship, otherwise know as Paddy, and I have recently taken the position of Business Development Coordinator here at Anglo-Continental. I will be working to achieve an increase in the level of student enrolments from the Turkish and Middle Eastern markets.

Having previously worked as a Marketing Executive for a large FE college in West London I am familiar with and enjoy working in an educational environment. I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone at Anglo-Continental over the coming months.

Lyn

I have been an Anglo-Continental student in the past, spending a short summer twice. Since then, I have lived in Bournemouth for 5 years. Having been a language student before, I fully understand how students would feel like when they first arrive at airport, at their host family's house, first day at school, or what would be the expectation of students who are taking an academic course.

I have just returned to Bournemouth after living in Japan for 3 years and realised again how admirable Bournemouth is and appreciate the beauty of golden beach and gardens; wonderful people; the size and attractions of town; and lastly and mainly the great atmosphere. In the Student Services office, my colleagues and I try our best to find a suitable host family for each student.

With my knowledge of the area and experience, I hope to make everyone happy and I welcome anyone coming into the office for a chat! I will also be promoting Anglo-Continental's courses in Japan.
