Your First Day At School

Your Way to School

Your host family will make sure that you know how to find the school on your first morning, and your teachers will be waiting to help you from the moment you arrive. Allow plenty of time to make sure you are not late for the first activity of the day.

Your Entry Test

Your first day at school will begin with a short language test to enable us to establish your level of English. It is important, therefore, that you should be at the school by the time specified in your Confirmation of Enrolment. When you come for your test, please bring your Confirmation of Enrolment and written evidence that your course fees have been paid – either to Anglo-Continental or its Representative.

eAnglo

Make sure you have registered to use eAnglo – Anglo-Continental’s virtual learning environment.

Late Arrival

It is important that you arrive for the beginning of your course in order to avoid delay in placing you in a class appropriate to your level of English. If you are delayed and unable to be present at the time of the entry test, you should report to Student Services immediately on arrival.

Afternoon

If you have no afternoon lessons on your first day, after lunch you may wish to explore the campus, pay a brief visit to the town centre, or join in the school’s social activity.

Class Allocation

You will meet your Course Coordinator for notification of the class to which you have been allocated.  During class allocation, you will receive a Student Notebook and your timetable will be explained to you.  Providing you have handed your passport in to the school, you will also receive your Student Card at allocation.  Your questions will be answered and you will then be ready for the beginning of your lessons on the following day.  All you have to do is to check the location of your classroom to ensure that you will know where to go.

Students Under 18 Years of Age

If you are under 18, the Student Support Officer will hold a meeting with you during allocation to ensure that you are aware of the Anglo-Continental Guidelines for students under 18. You will also be asked to sign a statement to confirm that you understand and will follow these guidelines.

Your lessons

All adult lessons or study sessions are of 45 minutes duration.  Depending on your choice of course, they normally take place between 0845 and 1630 hours, Monday to Friday. Whichever course you choose, you will enjoy lively, communicative teaching to extend your knowledge of the language and develop your skills in listening and understanding, speaking, reading and writing. All your tuition will be in English, with the emphasis on easy comprehension and communication.

Educational advisory service

We offer a professional Educational Advisory Service which can help you if you wish to continue your education in a British or American College or University after your course with us.

Certificates and reports

On satisfactory completion of your course you will receive a Certificate of Studies indicating the school and the type and length of course attended. Individual tutorials with your class teacher every 8 weeks. Executive Courses – Individual tutorial during your first week and every 2 or 4 weeks thereafter, depending on the length of your course. If you complete a course of 12 weeks or more, you can also ask for a detailed report on your academic achievement.
