Visa Requirements

General Information

If you are unsure whether you will need a visa to study in the UK, please consult your nearest British Embassy or Consulate. You can also find useful up-to-date information about visas on the Home Office website.

If you require a visa in order to study in the UK, we strongly recommend that you apply as early as possible for your course as the application procedure may take several weeks to complete. Anglo-Continental must be in receipt of a deposit of £500 (deductible when you pay your fees) or the full amount of the fees due before issuing any visa documents.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you apply for the correct type of visa to allow you to study at Anglo-Continental for the entire period of your course(s).  You must ensure that all details on your confirmation documents (including the visa letter) issued by Anglo-Continental are correct before you apply for your visa.  Anglo-Continental cannot be held liable for any errors that occur during the visa application process.  It is also your responsibility to continue to maintain the correct immigration status to study at Anglo-Continental for the duration of your course(s).  Failure to do so may lead to termination of your studies without refund or compensation.

We strongly recommend that you send a scanned copy of your visa to us by email to check prior to departing for the UK.

Visa Types

Adult and Vacation Courses (age group 16+)

There are two types of visa that you may apply for:

  1. Short-Term Student: This visa is valid for 6 months or 11 months. For students aged 16 years old and over.
  2. Short-Term Student (Child): This visa is valid for 6 months. For students under 16 years old.

Young Learners and Teenagers Courses (age group 10-15)

Your child should apply for a Short-Term Student (Child) Visa which is valid for courses of 6 months or less in duration.

Visitor Visa Routes

Please note that students holding Visitor Visas are only permitted to study for up to 30 days and study cannot be the main purpose of your visit to the UK.

Please note that students under the age of 18 are no longer eligible to study on Child Visitor Visas, unless study is not the main purpose of your visit to the UK and your course is 6 weeks or less in duration.

We strongly urge all students who wish to study for more than 30 days to send a scanned copy of  your visa to us before departing for the UK so that we can check that it is the correct type of visa to allow you to study for the full length of your course. Otherwise, your course may need to be curtailed without refund.

Filming and Photography at Anglo-Continental

Anglo-Continental sometimes creates videos and photos of students and business partners. We use these photos and videos for 2 reasons:

  • to advertise and promote our company around the world, to people who are interested in learning English.
  • so that students can share their special moments and achievements with their friends and family.

Who creates the films and photography?

Anglo-Continental has a media professional who creates the photos and video. The media professional who creates video and photo promotions for Anglo-Continental is the Digital Marketing Coordinator. Sometimes, other members of Anglo-Continental staff may also take photos and videos at events and student trips – where  authorised by Anglo-Continental.

What is the content of the films and photography?

Anglo-Continental will take photos and videos of student trips, classroom activities, events, local festivals and interviews. We will do this when our students and business partners are involved, or to advertise these events.

Who will be in the films and photography?

Students and staff of Anglo-Continental, agents and business partners of Anglo-Continental, and on some occasions, professional actors used for advertisements or promotions.

How does this affect me?

If you consent, you may appear in Anglo-Continental photos and videos. You may be the focus of the media or a small part of it.

We will not show any student who does not consent, or who lets us know that they do not want to be in the photos and videos Anglo-Continental creates.

If you are over the age of 18 years old, Anglo-Continental may use your Name, Age, Nationality, English Course you are taking at Anglo-Continental, your city or town where you live, your job and the company you work for, or where you are studying.

However, these details are only likely to be used if you are interviewed by Anglo-Continental, for a promotion or advertisement.

Where will the films and photography be visible?

Anglo-Continental may use photos and videos of students for advertising, marketing and promotions.  We may use them on Social Media, in printed adverts and promotions, emails and presentations.

Anglo-Continental has several social media pages. These include YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Weibo, VKontakte, Google +, Pinterest and Line. We may also open new pages and accounts in the future.

How long does Anglo-Continental keep films and photography?

Anglo-Continental will usually keep the photos and videos we create for as long as it is relevant for our marketing, advertising and promotional purposes.

Where does Anglo-Continental keep films and photography?

Anglo-Continental stores the photos and videos of you, on our secure servers, digitally. These photos and videos are only accessible through secure terminals and by approved staff, monitored by Anglo-Continental’s Digital Compliance Officer, Information Technology team and Digital Marketing Coordinator. We will usually delete photos and videos that we feel may be outdated or irrelevant.

You can request that we delete films and photography of you!

Anglo-Continental will delete, or amend, any photos or videos of you, or a reference to you. However, if you are not the focus of the photo or video, and your personal details are not mentioned, this request may be refused.

Once a request is received, we will delete any relevant multimedia within 30 days of the original request.

To make a request for the deletion of photos and videos, contact media@anglo-continental.com

Can I request a copy of films and photography?

Yes, you can. Anglo-Continental will provide you with a copy of photos and videos created of you, where you are the focus, and your personal details are included – if requested. We will provide these, in a standard digital file format, within 30 days of the request.

To make a request for a copy of multimedia, contact media@anglo-continental.com
